Our day started down a long escalator to the subway so we could end up……
…here! This is Hungary’s parliament building on the Danube river.
Budapest is made up of two cities Buda and Pest which is divided by the Danube river.
We then took a funicular up to Castle hill on the Buda side of the city. It overlooks the Pest side of the city.
One of the attractions on Castle hill is the Fisherman’s Bastion where we took a lot of pictures.
Another attraction on Castle hill is Matyas Church.
We then took the funicular back down the hill. The following pictures are random pictures from around town.
We never could figure out what the this group of people marching across the bridge were up to. It could have been a parade or a funeral as they were all holding roses, flags and there was a band playing.
When we made it across the bridge we found this lady holding a matching rose watching intently.
Christmas market outside St. Stephan’s basilica.
Kelly’s favorite photography subject – The elderly getting around town.
Below is a funny old car with a great maintenance plan.
We noticed several stores with names extremely similar to popular stores in the States. Here is Women’s secret and we also saw a sandwich shop called MyWay with a very similar logo as Subway.
We ended our night taking in the sites of the Chain Bridge and Castle Hill at night.
