The Ham incident

Well we´ve been to the grocery store now and have learned that not very many people speak English as it was rumored. We also learned that you buy much less when you have to bus to the store, pay 1 euro for a full sized cart and pay if you want grocery bags to take home.

All we needed was some lunch meat and breakfast items to get us through the next couple of days. Apparently there are 40 different types of Ham and no chicken or turkey. To make things worse we didn´t know the German word for ham but luckily a stranger saved us who overheard us trying to order and helped us get what we needed.

In all Salzburg is beautiful. The weather is really nice and the city is picture perfect. We haven´t seen any town this pretty. We spent tonight in the city center having a coffee across the street from where Mozart was born and raised. We took a walk along the river to end the night and found an internet cafe to make a longer post from today.

We've arrived in Salzburg!

We finally made it to Salzburg and have moved into our apartment. It turned out to be nicer than we thought it would be and the person renting it to us was extremely nice. He even went out of his way to buy us a new coffee maker and install a t.v. for us to watch just because we asked in an email if the apartment included these items. On top of that it is so cheap we are beginning to wonder if he is making any money on this deal.

We are off to the grocery store before they close since they are not open on Sundays. We found an internet cafe down the street so hopefully we can post some more later after we get settled. Finally no more jumping between towns for awhile. We both have blisters on our feet and are sore from head to toe.

Munchen!

We made it to Munich after a 6 hour train ride which was actually quite nice. We have been exploring the city and were to able to meet some nice Germans at the Haufbrau House. They want to meet us to celebrate Kellys birthday which is the same weekend of Munichs 850 birthday. We may just take them up on it. It is late and we are off to Salzburg early tomorrow. Thats fine by us as we are tired of moving every other day.

We will post more soon. We miss everyone and hopefully in Salzburg we will get our phones in order so we can call.

Interlaken Switzerland

After a hectic trip to London and Dublin we finally made it to Interlaken. We had to wake up at 3am to make our 6.25am flight out of Dublin to Basel. In Basel we took the train for a couple of hours to Interlaken. It's unbelievable how pretty this area and town are. It looks straight out of fairytale.

Once we arrived we spent most of the day just sightseeing around town after finding our hotel. By the way here is where we are staying.

Until here we have been in English speaking countries. Once we arrived in Interlaken we were extremly tired as the most sleep we've had each day is about 5 hours. We were tired hungry and seeing that most restaurants ranged from 25+ dollars per meal plus being in a German speaking country we looked for a long time until we found a sort of cafeteria. After accomplishing eating we wandered around this town mostly taking pictures. Still sleep deprived we found a McDonalds with 11 dollar value meals. I'm not sure what that works out to per nugget but it can't be good. We finally crashed after dinner and slept 9 hours.

Today we woke up early and rode the trains up toward the Jungfrau which is the highest point in Europe. We've spent the rest of the day just wandering around this town and relaxing a bit since we're not running from airport to airport.

Tonight we are going here for fondue.

Sorry for no pictures. We learned it wasn't safe to plug in our computer with our converter we bought so that will have to wait until we find one that will work in Austria.

Tomorrow we're off to Munich! We will write more soon. We miss everyone and hope to speak to you soon.

Love,
Kelly and Brandon

We made it!

After a really really really long flight we finally made it to London. Even being completely exhausted we were able to see some big sights like Big Ben and Westminster Abbey. We didn't get to see too much as we had to catch a 7:45 flight the next morning to Dublin.

Today as we write this we are in Dublin and have spent most of the day sightseeing and visiting the Guinness brewery. We have an even earlier flight tomorrow morning that flies to Basel Switzerland where we will take a train to Interlaken. We plan on going down to Mulligan's Pub which you can see here http://www.mulligans.ie/ for dinner.

We are off to dinner and will post more soon...
